Bryston Phono Stage

Bryston's hallmark gain stages are perfect for your phono cartridge of choice. The BP-2 is available with MM and MC compatibility and is always driven from a separate power supply for the lowest noise floor and best response.

Phono Preamplifier

Connect your turntable to an ultra-clean gain stage. The BP-2 MM/MC is compatible with low, medium, or high output cartridges and is even available with your choice of step-up transformers. Power it from the PS-3 or MPS-2 Bryston power supply.

All Gain, No Pain

A phono stage has a delicate job. It must take the small signal from a record player and make it large enough to amplify further all while applying the right RIAA EQ correction curve. Bryston has designed a 2 part strategy that uses carefully wound transformers for the first stage and our proprietary Class A stage for the rest. When powered by our external power supply, you get all the gain you need with practically no added noise. The end result is nothing short of a revelation!

High Gain for Low Output

The stock transformers available in the TF-2 and BP-2 MM/MC are rated for 20dB of gain. If you have a low output MC cartridge (approximately 0.3mv or less, you can specify 30dB transformers for better performance.

Power Supply Options

If you already own a BP-26, you probably already own the MPS-2 - a multi-output Bryston power supply. If not, you can save some money and buy the PS-3 which has only a single output. Either model will provide clean quiet DC power to your Bryston BP-2.

Step-Up Only

If you already own a great MM stage (or have one built into your preamp), and you decide to upgrade to a low or medium output MC cartridge, simply add a TF-2 step up transformer for the additional gain. This passive device is noiseless and will give your cartridge just the boost needed.
