Design Philosophy Ensures Sonic Superiority:

All analog signal circuitry is fully discrete to avoid the compromises, phase shift and non-linearity inherent in IC's. The Bryston SST Series amplifiers incorporate the use of an innovative gain stage topology, which yields a substantially lower noise floor through the use of low-impedance pathways within the amplifier. This same approach also has strong advantages in reducing the overall distortion performance. Bryston's computer controlled distortion analyzers confirm Intermodulation Distortion levels less than 10 parts per million (below 0.0009%) are typical for this new circuitry. All SST amplifiers use Bryston's proprietary Quad-Complementary output section, which improves linearity to a new standard of accuracy, while virtually eliminating aggressive higher harmonic distortion products. From input to output, all the circuitry in the SST series of amps has been optimized for the most accurate performance possible. Custom totally independent and separate torodial power supplies for each channel of amplification provides precise and focused soundstaging. The power supplies employ multiple filter capacitors per channel, rather than single pairs of larger filter cans. This allows improved high frequency response and reduces overall losses in the supply. Gold-plated balanced or single-ended (RCA) input connectors are standard as well as gold-plated 5-way loudspeaker binding posts, to eliminate possible causes of distortion from corrosion. A rear panel switch allows for the use of Balanced inputs (XLR or 1/4" phone jack) or unbalanced inputs (RCA). The inputs can be switched to allow different gain settings. From input to output, all the circuitry in the SST has been optimized for the most accurate performance and flexibility possible.

Independent Power Supplies:

Exclusive to Bryston among amplifiers is the use of independent (one per channel) toroidal transformer power supplies providing precise and focused sound-staging. Bryston's research has shown that all amplifiers require separate power supplies per channel for the best imaging, clarity and dynamic range, especially crucial given todays and tomorrows most demanding digital sound sources.

The 3B SST stereo amplifier, at 150 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 250 at 4 ohms, provides all the quality and value of our larger amplifiers but in a package which is both compact and powerful. Suitable for a wide range of audio/video systems where sonic accuracy, medium power and long term reliability is required.

The Bryston 4B SST is something of a legend among audio amplifiers. As our most popular it has attained international status as an amplifier suitable for the finest and most sophisticated sound systems. Whatever the venue, be it a recording studio stage, a broadcast facility, a home theater installation, or a state-of-the-art stereo system, Bryston has continued to be the number one choice. The 4B SST is a pure dual mono design and offers 300 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 500 watts into 4 with over 1000 watts available in bridged mode.

The Bryston 6B SST is a single chassis power amplifier consisting of three totally independent amplifier modules, each with its own power transformer and power supply. Each audio channel provides connections for balanced or single ended input and will supply effortless power to the world's most demanding loudspeakers. The 6B SST is a new modular design from Bryston packaged in a convenient single chassis. Each modular channel contains all the electronic circuitry, connections and independent power supply. The chassis simply provides Soft-Start AC to each channel, and a separate power LED illuminates on the front panel indicating individual channel power status. The Byston 6B SST provides 3 X 300 watts per channel at 8 ohms or 3 X 500 watts per channel at 4 ohms. Three completely separate and independent power supplies are employed to prevent any possibility of channel to channel cross-talk or interference.

The 7B SST is a MONO block design capable of over 600 watts at 8 ohms and over 900 watts at 4 ohms. This gives the 7B ST the power to drive, with breath-taking ease and clarity, speakers, which have been considered "impossible" loads in the past. One advantage of the Mono design 7B SST is it allows you to place the amplifier adjacent to the loudspeaker providing improved performance. The 7B SST is available in either a Series or Parallel version. 'Series' is recommended with loudspeaker loads above 3 ohms and 'Parallel' for loudspeaker loads below 3 ohms.

The Bryston 9B SST is a hand-crafted, modular, single-chassis 5-channel power amplifier delivering 120 watts per channel at 8 Ohms, and 200 watts at 4 Ohms. Each modular channel contains all the electronic circuitry connections and independent power supply, necessary to deliver the best possible sonic quality. The chassis simply supplies AC and five power LED's on the front panel indicating each channel's functional status, (green for power-on, red for overdrive). The 9B SST power amplifier is also an authorized THX version. All THX parameters are easily met for their intended use within a multi-channel audio/video installation.

The Bryston 14B SST is a 2-channel power amplifier consisting of two totally independent amplifier modules, each with its own independent power transformer equivalent to a +/- 120 Volt power supply. Each audio channel provides connections for balanced or single ended input and will supply a minimum of 600 watts of power into 8 ohms or 900 watts into 4 ohms. The 14B SST is a balanced-output amplifier which reduces THD and IMD to unprecedented low values, (typically 0.001% or less), for a new degree of transparency, musicality and ease of listening. Superbly low noise floor, typically below -118dB yields an inky black silence between notes for hauntingly realistic reproduction, Tremendous power reserves give the 14B SST virtually perfect freedom from overload on any type of speaker or music, bringing the performance and realism directly into your listening environment. Unique Burn In Procedure:
